When I am backing up, I hear a faint chafing sound and the car feels like it is “squirming” just a little. The power steering fluid was just replaced as well as the brake fluid and the transmission fluid and the oil and the spark plugs because I just bought the car used and have no knowledge of the previous owner’s maintenance history. Otherwise the car is running great.

Does the noise come from the front or rear? Can you upload a short video from your phone of the noise so I can hear it? I would raise the car in the front and then the rear and then spin the wheels to see if you can hear the sound so we can get closer to the problem.

I noticed that it’s not so much the noise but the slight squirm in the steering wheel as I hit the extreme limit of where the steering wheel can turn to while backing up.

I would lift the front of the car up and spin the tires to see if you have one of them coming apart internally. Tire cord separation.
