When shifting sputters and lunges

Car has replacement used engine runs great except when the car shifts and it doesn't matter which gear, it lugs and lunges like it was a standard shifting car with a rookie on the clutch. It doesn't do it so bad if you are accelerating quickly. It idles fine doesn't miss otherwise.
