Car will not stay started when using another car to jump it?

i am using the car listed above to jumpstart a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix. when i connect the cables to the Nissan in about 30 seconds the Nissan shuts off. in a few minutes the Nissan will start again but shuts off when cables are connected. the battery in the Grand Prix is less than a year old. which car is the problem here and why? i have jumped it before in the past and never had this problem.

This will happen when the battery in the Pontiac is shorted causing the Nissan to shut down due to lack of voltage or over charging. To confirm please test the surface voltage of the battery in the Pontiac it should be 11 volts or higher if not get a new battery. these guides should help:
