So my driver front window is stuck mid way. Can't get it up. I can hear the motor running. I opened door trim and try to manually push up the plastic clamp that holds the glass, but doesn't budge. I figure the regulator is bad. I hardly use the car so don't want to replace the part. All I want to do is get the window up and keep it that way. I will keep it closed forever. It is 98 mercury mystique. Appreciate the help. Thanks.

Yes, you have a bad regulator. At this point the wire cable is likely tangled and wrapped around something preventing the window from moving. You could spend the time and effort to go inside the door and untangle this mess but at that point, you are only $60 to $70 from having a new regulator. You might as well change it.

I can't see how they are jammed from here or if it can even be un-jammed. Just replace the regulator and be done with it.
