My car started running sluggish and shifting was clunky. I have the car listed above Premium 1 turbo. All of the sudden the check engine light came in so I went to O'reilly's auto parts to get the check engine light checked out. They said the code was for a camshaft position sensor. I want to change it but no clue where to find it on the engine. Can you please tell me where to look. A picture of where it is at would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Hello,

Do you remember what the actual code number was?
As you know sometimes the code may not indicate the problem directly. With the code number I will be able to get the diagnostics which may or may not lead to a bad cam sensor. It could be for a bad connector or wiring etc.
I just want you to be aware of that.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/camshaft-angle-sensor-replacement

Also this vehicle has 2 camshaft position sensors, one for the intake cam and the second one for exhaust cam.

The cam sensor are located on the upper part on the side of the engine. You will have to remove the engine cover to get to it. I have attached diagrams for your reference.

Please let me know of any questions.

Thank you.

I am sorry but I don't have the actual code. I think it ended with 00013 but not sure. The pictures you sent are very helpful to me. Do you think I should replace both sensors? Are these things easy to get to and change? Thank you for your help.

Most of the time the code will tell you which one. But as far as replacement goes they are simple to do. You will see it when you remove the engine cover. Just one bolt holds each one to the engine. Hope this helps. Thanks.

Was able to locate the exhaust cam position sensor but was unable to locate the intake cam position sensor. I seen what looked like plug but no bolt so I am not sure if that was it. In a very tight spot so couldn't determine if that plug was to the intake or not. I could send you a picture of what I am looking at as long as I can get a good one.

Yes, send me the best picture you can take. Take a close up and one form little bit far away, so I can see the general area.

Well, it's hard to tell exactly from the picture. But the intake cam sensor will have a bolt. And the back of the sensor will have a 90 degree angle where the plug goes in. Have you already purchased that part?
It should be a three wire plug like the picture. But it appears the plug comes straight out and not angled.
