I broke the bleeder valve, and I am trying to use extract it before replacing the entire caliper. Is it okay to spay it with some kind of rust penetrant? (The caliper is fully removed, and I will have to bleed all the brakes later)

Also, when cleaning the slide pins, I am replacing the slide pins and boots. Can I use brake clean inside where the pins go for a better clean and then lubricate once dry?

Hi,

Yes, and yes. When you clean with brake cleaner, take a rag on a screwdriver and clean all the dirt out. Just make sure it is clean and dry before lubricating and installing the new slide pins.

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

Take care,
