car has just over 100,000 miles. All guages, headlights, horn, beepers, etc are working. However, the car will not turn over at all. A new battery was installed no more than 2 months ago. I have located the starter relay, and not sure if this could be bad or if the starter itself is bad. I am a single female and do not have all the testing equip that I have previously read about on this site. I am in Dacula, GA currently, and pretty much stranded. Can you tell me what I may try to get the car started. I have tried to jump start already, to no avail. Thank you! Pam Parker

Is there a service theft system message on the info center? There is a two wire connector tucked between the p.S. Pump and the front of the rear bank valve cover with a large purple wire, That is your starter signal wire. If you at least have a test light to ground, you can see if the starter is getting a signal there, it should light in crank. If it does, you aree in need of a starter. If you have a theft system warning, you possibly have an ignition cylinder fault. If you do not have a start signal on the purple wire, you might be able to jump a signal on the starter side of that connector to get it to start. I believe the vats system only prevents crank, and not fuel, but don't hold me to it. If it cranks and don't start, fuel is probably inhibited as well.
