I just got my car back from the machanic who changed the distributor. The gear was badly worn. So much so that it wouldn't start. When I picked it up he told me that the fireing order was wrong. Now it runs like an old truck. I checked my Chilton manual for the order and compared it with what he did and to me it looks wrong now. The picture in my book says the first spot, counter clockwise from the rear, right screw should go to the first cylinder. That is not how it is wired now. It ran great when I first got it. It started to stall out once in a while. I let it go and soon it wouldn't start. " I " changed the plugs and wires, being careful not to mix up the order. It still wouldn't start. That is when we found out the distributor was worn out. Not a job for me. So.... am I reading the book right or not?
