2005 Cadillac Deville V8 Automatic 108000 miles

My air bag light is on in the dash and won't go off....What is the problem....and is it something major that i really have to worry about?

The airbag system being safety related, it's importance is in the eye of the beholder. A fault, often times results in the system being disabled. You can extract the code, and we can see what the fault is. If you press info up, and on/off, it will enter a segment check. After that, the dic will display ALL? If you press on/off, it should change to ALL CODES?, press on/off again. It will begin displaying codes alphabetically for each module. In 2005, I believe it was either SDM or SIR. You can streamline the process by using the info button to scroll modules, do this when it displays ALL? and it will scroll modules alphabetically, then on/off will execute the requests. Report back with the codes.
