In a nutshell, traction control is implemented to minimize wheel slip. Kind of the same as anti-lock brake function, when one wheel is moving faster than other wheels, the system takes action to bring the faster wheel in check with the others. Based on whether there is a brake pedal input, or throttle input, determines whether it is a traction event, or a brake event. The more sophisticated systems incorporate steering inputs, and yaw/accelerometer data for stability control. If there is a warning light on, you have a fault, and should have a code associated with that fault. Your vehicle has on-board diagnostics that will give you that code(s). If you press INFO up, and the ON/OFF buttons together and hold them until all segments light up, the info center will display ALL. If you press ON/OFF again, it should display ALL CODES. And pressing ON/OFF again, it will start displaying codes alphabetically by module. We are concerned at this point with ABS codes. Record them and include in your reply, and I can give you some further guidance.
