The car starts up fine first thing. If you make a short trip (less than 5 miles), it will start without a problem. After that, the engine will crank but will not start. The solution so far has been to wait at least 1/2 hour and the car will start fine again. No hesitation when running and plenty of power. This has just started in the last month. Only once has the car died when idling at an intersection. Is this a computer problem, fuel pump problem or electrical? I would like to narrow this down before taking it to a shop.

Start with the basics, and work your way up, Last tune up was? Wires plugs ALL filters? If all that is ok, check for a stuck EGR, then test fuel pump pressure, If it won't restart, determine what's missing, the engine needs three things to run, Spark at all plugs, gas to all cylinders, and compression in all cylinders, tho an engine may run lacking one in one cylinder, it won't run very well!

thanks for stating the obvious. If the car runs fine without loss of power and does not stall, then how is getting a tune up, checking wires and plugs helping. I will have the car coded. It could be fuel pump or fuel filter I quess. I was hoping that there is a known problem this make and model may have unigue to other cars. Thanks for you time.

Stephen, what I am saying is when the engine wont start, perform a spark and fuel test, then we can narrow the scope of the search donw to fuel or ignition system problems...
