Rear hatch buttons do not work

The rear hatch on my van will not open when I press the button on the dash or the button on the hatch. It worked okay, then it won't work anymore. Is there something somewhere that would disable it? Is there a fuse for it and where?
I can press the hatch switch and it pops but I have to lift it up and push it down.
Any info is greatly appreciated.

Okay. Just to be clear. The auto lift and close function is not working at all from any button but you can manually open and close it?

Does the vehicle beep at all when you press the button? If so, how many times?

We need to check for codes as you may have some body codes in the computer that will point us in the right direction.

If there are no codes then we are going to have to check fuses as there are 4 involved but not one that directly controls just the door. I included these below as well.

Please let us know what you find with this info and we can go from there. Thanks

Yes, that is correct. It was working. I opened the hatch to get something. Pressed the button to close and nothing. No beeps, no anything. I tried the under dash button. Dead, just like I never pressed it. Normally I press the hatch button and it will beep and the hatch opens. Now when I press the button it just pops unlock but does not even try to open. It was that way for about a week.
I received your reply about 8:00 pm today. Thank you for that.
But this morning - just started working again. No reason - no change. It just started working. It may be a few days before I get a chance to check the code. Will it still show something after it is now working? That is just weird. Work one second and the next does not work. Days later it starts working again.

Most likely it will not have codes if it is working. However, do you remember if it was raining about the time that it stopped working? We may be dealing with water intrusion in a connector or module, then when it finally dried out it started working again.

Either rain or a car wash?

If not, then I suspect it will stop again but that still sounds like a connector that is loose or the control module is failing. Clearly we don't want to take any action if it is working but hopefully we can try and explain it.

No - it was not raining at the time.
Boom - it just quit.
And boom - it started working days later.
Which cables should I check out?
And where should I find the connector to check?
Thank you.

The thing that is concerning me is that it is not beeping at all. That means the control unit is not getting the signal that the button is being pressed. So we need to go the rear fuse box and check the fuses for this system which as shown below. They are E14, E1 and E13.

Once we know they are ok we are going to have to test the voltage coming out of the Power Tailgate control unit just to make sure it is operating but I suspect we will find the control unit is the issue.

Let me know if you have questions on this.

Sorry for the delay to reply.
Shortly after the last posts, I found my car barely turning over to start. So I took it to NAPA for battery test. They said it was weak. So I replaced the battery. I was hoping that "maybe" it was a weak battery keeping the hatch from opening and closing. Now with new battery, I waited to see what would happen. For 3 days - it still had the intermit but mostly the problem, hatch no work. But then after that, I never had the problem since. I put the battery in on June 2nd. I was giving it time to see if it failed again. But so far - All okay. Does that really make any sense?

I would not think a weak battery would cause this but there is no "normal" concerns with a weak battery. You never know what will happen when the battery is weak.

So if it is working then I would not questions it and just enjoy the fact that it is fixed. If it breaks again then we can readdress it but hopefully that doesn't happen. Thanks for the update. That info will help others. Thanks for using 2CarPros.

Just to do a follow-up. I really do not believe the battery was the issue. But after I replaced the battery, It did fail for about 3 days. But since then, it has not failed once. That is just so weird. Thanks for all of your help.

That does help. It is very common for all of us to just look over the basics like battery voltage because we assume that it can't be the issue because it doesn't make sense.

It may end up being something different but as of now, all we can go on is the facts in front of us and it is not acting up so until it does, it looks like it was a battery issue.

Thanks for the update as that will help others. Thanks
