Thanks NOS so far for your suggestions.

So far: Car sat for a bit before returning to service. Replaced - Transmission, Timing chain/tensioner, water pump, Tiiming Chain Cover, spark plugs, air filter, oil and filter. I've added fuel injector cleaner and wynn's gas treatment and brand new fuel into to fuel tank.

Problems, car starts and runs for a min or two and then quite abruptly dies. At first the car ran for half hour no problem, at which time I noticed the exhaust manifolds glowing red. Hissing at fuel regulator, I believe where the regulator and O ring mate to the fuel rail.

I pulled a 32 and a 42 error codes out od the diagnostic. I am leary of the diagnostic codes as this technology in GM certainly has a reputation for being quite inaccurate. I've been told that 32 error codes come up all the time and are almost ignored by mechanics. The error code 42. I pulled the #1 plug and let engine run till it died. Spark was purplish blue and run consistently till engine died. It was trying to spark as engine was died.

I am trying to locate any vacuum leaks and replacing any possibly circumspect hosing. I'm wanting to suspect fuel system problem and/or vacuum problem.

Am I beyond internat help at this moment? Oh how I wish this thing was a diesel.

Finally got a good seal between fuel regulator, O ring, and fuel rail. Hissing is now gone and engine seems to want to run more than 2-3 minutes. Things are looking good.

The only thing seemingly holding me back now is that I'm about to replace the water pump for the fourth time in a week. First new pump on engine had impellars incorrectly set, they contacted with block when bolted on and stopped pump from turning. 2nd replacement pump failed after approximately 30 minutes engine run time (leaking out under pulley). Now 3rd pump is leaking out under pulley after about 3 minutes engine run time.

Hopefully this is the last hurtle. Not including now sagging interior roof cloth however.

Thanks guys for all your help. Next car I buy, I'm going to stick with diesel, tried, tested and true!
