When I went to check my brake fluid I found the fluid to be a thick gray mush. I also found the rubber insert on the master cylinder lid to bedeformed from heat. It is obvious that the brake fluid is burnt and I have noticed it is hard to stop the car. My question, what could be causing this? I have no idea how many miles are on the car T.M.U.

The brake fluid is contaminated with oil or tranny fluid, ALL rubber parts must be replaced, and the steel lines flushed with alcohol and compressed air!
The rubber has swelled because of the oil! If you have a hydraboost check it for a front seal leak by pulling the master off the booster!
Calipers wheel cyls, hoses and combination valve must be changed, ans the Master too!
