Brakes problem
1991 Buick Roadmaster Automatic 170000 miles

I have a '91 Buick Roadmaster, that the brake pedal is SOFT and pulls to the left when I apply the brakes. As well as sometimes the brakes seem to lock quickly and I skid and the tires squeel. I have added brake fluid, still the same. If I pump the brake pedal four or five times and then apply the brake again it is not as soft, however sometimes this again causes the brakes to lock and we skid and tires squeel. Little to a lot of pressure to the brake and the steering wheel and the car pull to the left. Winter is knocking on the door and I am scared to be in an accident or end up in a ditch or worse. Please help. Thank you!

First, check all brakes for wear. Next, I feel confident that the soft pedal has to do with rear brake adjustment. If the rears are out of adjustment, the pedal will go much closer to the floor. Also, it will place too much work on the front brakes. Loft the rear tires off the ground. Spin the tires. If they spin very easy and seem to have little or no resistance, they need adjusted.

Let me know what you find.
