When I try to squeeze the rear hatch handle, nothing happens. Is there a manual release, and what would cause this?

The handle is the manual release. If it isn't working, wither the handle has broken or the linkage has come apart. You will need to remove the door panel to be able to check the linkage and handle. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what you find.

Some have an electric switch in the inside of the vehicle. Others don't. However some have a handle on the rear hatch. You may need to pull the interior panel to access the latch assembly and work it manually. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what happens.

Not all of the rendezvous back hatches are able to be opened from the outside. The 02 is only a handle.

The rear hatch door no longer unlocks when you press the unlock button twice on the remote entry fob. All the other doors do unlock. The rear hatch also does not unlock when you put the vehicle in park and shut it off. The only way to unlock the rear hatch is to press the "Rear" button on the remote entry fob. Is there a way to fix this?

Thanks

Hello and thanks for donating

Since you say the liftgate does operate fine using the "rear" key fob button, this rules out any type of issue with the liftage's switch, actuator, motor or wiring. It must be something with the key fob / transmitter. I would suggest resynchronizing your transmitter. To do this, stand close to your vehicle and press and hold the lock and unlock buttons on the transmitter at the same time for 15 seconds. The door locks should cycle to confirm synchronization. If the locks do not cycle, it would be best to contact local dealer for issues with the transmitter.

We just purchased our Rendezvous. The only way we can release the rear hatch is using the button the the key chain. There is no release button in the interior of the vehicle. Should there be a release other than the key chain?

AFAIK the only 2 methods are 1) Key 2) Manual release at the rear hatch under the grey plastic area

I have a 2004 Rendezvous too, and if I unlock the doors with the driver side master lock switch. It opens the rear too! Hope this helps. Every site I checked, failed to mention this!

If you can't open it with a key, then you will need to get a new remote. Other than that, you would have to take it apart.
