speedometers are run by a cable that is turned by the transmission. inside the speedo is a gear that is turned by the cable and that gear turns a set of gears which turn the number wheels. those gears can break and when they do the speedo will work but not the odometer. there are repair shops for just that thing i live in lee county florida and there is one place here. Look in your local phone book or search around online.
