Upper intake question

Im sure youve heard it before my g/f has a 97 lesabre, she was told by the mechanic that she needs to replace the upper intake gasket, after some research weve found that this is a very common problem and replacing the gasket wont fix it because the problems is with the egr valve burning a hole in the intake. My question bsically is if is the replacment part built to with stand this or is there something else I need to do/have done? Thx in advance

No the new part is an update, just get one from gm, not anywhere else
