When you apply the brakes a noise like a scrubbing sound or like a strong spring that has been stretched is let go, if apply slowly not as loud. Sounds as if comming a part at times. The brakes have been checked and is ok. Was told may be something to do with ABS system.

If you brake hard, do you know what the abs feels like?
IT may have a humming or buzzing sound and can be felt in the pedal.

Does the abs light come on?

Does this happen while turning and braking?

What is the strong spring sound like.A boing?

It sounds like the abs is actuating. I have seen situations where the sensors / stator have gotten enough dirt on them that causes the sensor to think the tire has stopped spinning and actuated the abs. Check to see it there is dirt or any corrosion built up on the sensor or stator. Also, try cleaning them. I use brake cleaner because it will get rid of dirt, oil. And then evaporate very quickly. Try it and let me know what you find. Also, let me know if the ABS light has been on. And one last thing, do you have 4 wheel disc brakes or do you have rear drum brakes.

Let me know.
