I changed my starter on my car, and it started with dim dash lights and battery light on, drove a few blocks and turned the car off. When I tried to start it, it needed a jump. It ran for a few minutes then it shut off. Please help. What's wrong with my car? I had also just replaced the alternator.

It sounds like the battery has gone bad, but I was wondering did you get all the wires back onto the starter? because one of the wires goes to the alternator. When the engine is running did you have a battery light on? I would charge the battery and then use this guide to test it, if it fails replace the battery.

Please go over these guides and report back.
