1988 Buick Century Car wont run uless gas is poured into ca

Im considering buying a 198i8 Century from a neighbor who bought it but its just been sitting because it will only run unless he poures gas into the carburator? he replaced the fuel filter. So i have no ide whats wrong with it? I assume the fuel pump is working as he replaced the filter> I think it could be a sensor?

That car is fuel injected you must be dumping fuel down the throttle body injection.First thing i would check is how much fuel pressure it has they rent fuel pressure gauge's at auto zone.I would also check to see if it has spark too.
