Approximately, 4 days ago, I took a back road after it had flooded the road with rain water from three rare nasty days of bad weather. Under the onslaught of water apparently was a tree branch that I ran over in the van that partially tore off a protective cover from under my car. My husband helpfully (sarcastic) pulled the cover the rest of the way off in lieu of repairing it. Since then my car has been making a constant noise, especially when first putting it into drive and engaging the gas. I have been driving my car since but not much at all. Two days ago I noticed that my brake pedal seemed to be slipping to the floor board more than normal and at times seemed to not be working as it should to make the car come to a complete stop. My husband later drove it and felt it also. Most times it would work fine. I'd say 9 out of 10. However, today I was running errands and felt it getting much worse. I new a brake mechanical shop was just up the street and proceeded there cautiously only to find it was closed. I then turned in the opposite direction and the first thing I came to was O'Reillys. I thought to myself, surely sometime in there knows enough about cars to help me with this. So I pull into the parking lot and a parking space against the side of the building, but when I prepared to stop, my van had other ideas. Apparently it would be more fun to not stop, roll over the stop guard thing in the parking space and smack into the side of the O'Reillys building. Folks, aluminum siding is no march for a dodge caravan. I proceeded to dent in the siding about a foot before the van stopped. Why? Oh and yes just a week ago my son totaled his car and the week prior my water pump had to be replaced. WTH and is this a pattern I see forming?

Forgot to add my break fluid is full.

Anytime the brake pedal goes to the floor there is a big problem. First, since your husband removed the plastic shield under the vehicle, chances are there is road dirt, water. Getting on the accessory belts causing a noise. That is my first guess for the noise.

As far as the brakes, if no brake lines are broken and there are no brake fluid leaks at the wheel, chances are the master cylinder is either extremely low on fluid or it is going bad. Has anyone checked to see if the fluid is full? Has anyone checked for leaks in the system?
