If you have a pedal that goes to the floor then you are correct to look for leaks. Basically it is one of two things, either a leak (internally or externally ) or there is air in the lines as air will compress and fluid will not.
Here is a guide that covers this. However, I also attached the process on bleeding them manually, just make sure this is how you did it or if you can pick out something that was missed that may have caused this.

Worst case scenario you have an internal leak with the master cylinder but if all you did was change the brakes and bleed them, I suspect you have air still in the lines.
