To remove the axle, a 12 point 36mm socket will get the nut off and it will take a special tool to push the axle stub from the hubs, do not beat it with a hammer. The two big bolts at the strut come out and a pry bar will disengage the stub going into the differential, I usually take the plate off the bottom of the front sub-frame to make it easier. Amazon.
