E31 exterior mirror

The car is a 1995 840 Ci. The plastic moulding around the left mirror is broken. How do I remove the mirror glass?

First, pull the mirror out at the bottom as far as it will go.
There will be a plastic locking ring, it is white.
With a pick tool, rotate this ring and the mirror releases.
The remaining disassembly is straight forward as you will see
