You have purchased a very good car and now let's talk about preventive maintenance and yearly maintenance costs. First to address your questions, The valley pan gasket is probably where the coolant leak is occurring and it will require removal of the intake manifold, also when the manifold is off, the PCV plate should be renewed for preventive maintenance. The oil leak is most likely from the valve covers and is most likely also leaking into the spark plug wells which can cause misfiring and coil failure. The cooling systems utilize a type of plastic that does not have a long life span. Replacement is called for at 5-7 year intervals and/or at about the mileage you are at now. These are what I referred to as preventive replacement. As far as yearly costs, regular oil and filter replacement intervals are an absolute necessity. Brakes are another wear item that seem to wear out much faster than most cars, My Chevy truck just turned 80k and still has the original brakes on it, BMW brakes seem to wear at about 3 times this rate. The fact that you have sought us out means to me that you care enough about your car and the cost of up keep to take affirmative action and I acknowledge your wisdom, keep in touch.
