1998 BMW 740 Cold air/no heat

The heater blows ice cold air when its turned on, if I try to turn up the temp my temp gauge spikes into the red zone as if the car is overheating. Even when the Unit is not on, it still shoots cold air, I dont even get warm air off of the engine.

There could be some electrical issues here. Inspect the engine wiring harness at the temp sender for melted wires, and there is a possibility the heater control valves are not opening.
