Yes I think it is the backplate.
The spacing between backplate and rotor is more on the top and less in the bottom - due to it bending
I do not see any damage on the rotor itself. I did try to bend the backplate (after I got the car back up on the jack), but at no point was it touching the rotor.
I put the old winter wheel back on, drove around and I did not hear and feel any differrence.
THen I put on my summer wheels. Attached arepics showing the whole, top & bottom of rotor (with my new wheels)
You can see the bottom part is closer and the top part has more spacing between rotor and backplate
