Rotors and disc is the same term.I'm assuming you mean replace the rotor everytime you have the pads replaced. And no that is not common practice, that is a waste of money and time. Only replace the rotors if they have become damaged or worn out (i.E warped, worn thin.) . Rotors wear out much, much slower than the pads themselves.
