1993 BMW 318 Warning Light

I recently purchased a 93 bmw 318is. I do not have an owner's manual, so therefore I am not sure what the warning light is referring to. Several times a light has come on, it is an exclamation point (!) Inside a circle. When I turn the car off it does not come back on, but ithas come on again a couple of days later. Can you please tell me what this light is and what I need to do.

It may be a transmission fault warning. Can you send a picture?

! Inside a circle with half circle on both sides: low brake fluid.
