The truck listed above is a 3500-crew cab dually with a 454 Whipple super charger on the motor. I was driving it and went to pass another vehicle and it shut off on me and wouldn't start. After that it would turn over but not start, I was wondering where would you advise me to get a new 454 motor from along with a new transfer case. Also wondering if I could put in a new Allison transmission if so, what would you recommend?

Let me start by getting you in touch with Ryan who is in this video below where he shows you how to rebuild a 454 and would be a wonderful place for you to start.

Clearly Ryan is going to have info that I may not.

However, I would suggest the main sources for a crate engine like Summit because especially when it comes to the big three (Chevy, Ford, Dodge) they have pretty much everything you will need for the engine.

As for the transfer case and transmission, you will want to look at different companies like Monster Transmission or even a smaller transmission company that will have some reman options.

Here is a link to this video series where Ryan gets into the transmission installation which has great info as well.

Let me know what questions you have, and I will ask Ryan to jump on this post as well and he can offer any insights he as well. Thanks

Hey there!

Yeah, I have to agree with Kase, Summit Racing is a great place to buy engines. As far as transmissions go, I would reach out to a local dealer getting a GM transmission from GM has always worked well for me. That is what I did for my 1967 Camaro with its 700R4.

Thanks for using 2CarPros!

Best,
Ryan

Just to add to the discussion, GM offers a variety of their own performance motors as well. I would check your local GM dealer for options as well.
