Try to make this short as possible.
Thanks for reading. I'm in my 30's and never knew a single thing about any car stuff other than pumping gas. Relied on spouse and other males. I'm learning a lot on my car listed above. The alternator belt has been replaced two maybe three times. Loud scratch noise and then some chirps. Noise comes and goes. Some weeks it is bad and then it isn't too too bad and I forget how bad it was the week before. I don't notice until it is loud again. Squeals louder when driving around 3,000 rpm's and below. Notice the rpm's more than driving under 45 or so.
the coolant tank in my car is missing. Assuming the mechanic removed it and forgot but it's been at least three months since last repair and it's just now randomly overheating. The hose from the radiator goes where the reservoir tank should have been but it's not being returned into the radiator or engine (the coolant).
August 2018 I replaced the spindle, front wheel bearing, rotors, brakes, crankshaft pulley and then I replaced a battery right before all that and did it not knowing it was good battery.
anyways.
My three mile drive home from work was chaotic. Started overheating. Fast and I pulled over. Put coolant in and by the way the coolant is never filled to top of radiator cap when I check.
Let the car cool off and went a another mile. Pulled over and did it again, but this time I had no where to pull off to the side. Literally in 50 mph traffic I had to turn off car. Now the battery died and now it wont start or turn over. About two months ago after the first time overheating ever the next day it leaked fluid on the street. Leakage all the way to the back of car, coolant, but hasn't had overheating issues since. (Until yesterday.) Read the belts could be on wrong and that the water pump or alternator or the pulleys could be off.

Last thing, some type of shavings are collecting on the pump and alternator, literally imagine pencil shavings but thinner and it is grayish silver and also belt rubbing.

Any tips or advice or anything will be helpful at this point! Thanks, Hunny

Good morning,

The tank being missing is allowing coolant to leak around that area. Most likely the coolant got on the belt and that will cause all the noises and the belt failures. It is not the belt, it is the coolant leaking on the belt.

As far as the metal, if you could take a video and upload it here, that would help in identifying the failure.
