Premium gas is not the answer. That will make any problem worse. It is harder to ignite and does not produce more power. It simply allows engine builders to design an engine to produce more power without the side affect of spark knock occurring.
The first thing to do is check for diagnostic fault codes. Many auto parts stores will do that for you for free. What you described sounds like it could be fuel supply-related but it's not likely to be fuel quality-related.
