Pass-lock ten minute relearn.
Auto learn:
Time required, approximately ten minutes:
1. Insure that the battery is fully charged.
2. Use the scan tool in order to clear the DTCs.
3. Turn the ignition switch from the OFF position to the CRANK position attempting to start the vehicle. The vehicle will start and then stall.
4. Leave the ignition switch in the ON position while observing the security indicator.
5. When the security indicator turns off, which can take up to 10 minutes, turn the ignition switch off. Wait 10 seconds.
6. The BCM and the PCM will learn the new code on the next start attempt.
If the ten minute does not work, try the thirty minute.
Thirty minute relearn.
Thirty minute relearn procedure:
Use this procedure after replacing the following components:
The passkey III (PK3) keys
The theft deterrent control module
The PCM, see important above
Important: This procedure is not available on vehicles equipped with option code (Z49 or BAE).
If replacing a theft deterrent control module with an GM SPO replacement part, perform the procedure to setup a new theft deterrent control module prior to the thirty minute relearn procedure.
With a master passkey III key (black), turn on the ignition, with the engine off.
Observe the security telltale, after approximately ten minutes the telltale will turn off.
Turn off the ignition, and wait five seconds.
Repeat steps one to three two more times for a total of three cycles or thirty minutes.
Important: The vehicle learns the key transponder information and/or passwords on the ignition switch transition from off to crank. You must turn the ignition off before attempting to start the vehicle.
With a master passkey III key, start the vehicle. The vehicle has now learned the key transponder information and the PCM has now learned the fuel continue password.
With a scan tool, clear any DTCs.
