Are there any other alternators that are compatible with my vehicle?

The alternator from a 1987 -1989 Dodge Raider, with the 2.6L engine, will fit. Also, the alternator from a 1987-1989 Mitsubishi Montero, with the 2.6L engine, will fit. You should be able to find them, at the local auto parts store (remanufactured) for about $70.00. From the factory it is a 50 AMP alternator.

Good afternoon,

I attached a wiring diagram of the alternator for you to check.

1. With ignition switch in the Off position, disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect wire from terminal B of alternator, then connect an ammeter between battery ground cable and alternator B terminal.
3. Connect a voltmeter between B terminal and ground.
4. Connect battery ground cable to battery ground post and note voltmeter reading. The voltmeter should indicate battery voltage. If voltage reads 0 volts, an open circuit in the wire between alternator B terminal and battery negative terminal, a blown fusible link or poor grounding are suspected.
5. Connect a tachometer to engine, then start engine and turn on lights.
6. Operate engine at 2500 RPM and note ammeter reading. Refer to Starting and Charging/Charging System/Alternator/Specifications/Electrical for Alternator Specification Chart.
