I have a 97 Civic DX with a 1.6L (non Vtech) engine. The engine misses at low rpm's. Now it idles fine and takes off fine, but it misses when you give it a fair amount of gas, and then just suddenly goes away when you get it above a certain rpm (which is still relatively low however it doesn't have a tach). What's odd is the way it misses. It's almost like 1 or 2 cylinders get unplugged, then when the rpm's get a little higher, they get plugged back in. I checked the plugs, wires and rotor and all seem perfect. There is no missing at all at higher rpms or higher speeds. The easiest way to get it to do it is to put it in a higher gear that lugs the engine and give it gas. It doesn't seem to be affected by temperature.

Think back about the car and remember the last time the wires were replaced on the plugs. They can look just fine but they are not straight wires but composite. They do where and I have seen perfect looking wires perform exactly as you say. A fairly cheap trial. If you have access to another fairly similar Honda try a wire from it. My one word of caution is that you mark the locations of the wires on the distributor and draw a picture so that they get back on the exact same way.
