55 T-bird - How to remove the valve lifters? 292 or 312

I believe the engine is a 292.

I remember something about a tool that is needed to reach down into the head and pull the lifters up and out. If the lifter comes apart, then I'll need to remove the head. Is this correct?

This engine has three bent push rods and I am guessing the lifters have frozen. The car had been sitting for a few years.

I am guessing I should apply plenty of WD40 to aid in the removal of the lifters?

Is there anything I should know to do or not do while I am doing this job?

Ther is a tool that reaches down into the lifter bore, that would be a good place to start

Seems this is not the case. The tool is usless. The lifters are not even hydraulic. They are T shaped and seem to fit between the cam and block. It appears the only way to remove the lifters is to remove the cam?

The problem was three push rods are bent. And I thought the engine had fozen lifters, as it was sitting for serveral years.

Can anyone direct me to who might know this answer? Or how can I find detailed books. Remember it's a 1955.

Thanks, I did make a very small donation awhile back.
