Ok, so I figure while I'm here I may as well talk about ALL the car's issues.

Transmission seems to be a biggie. Couple of things.

1) Driving along, and suddenly the car will slam into another gear (scares the sh*t out of me), and my RPM's go nuts!

2) Accelerating from a stop sometimes, the transmission feels like it's 'stuttering' (for lack of a better word). And often when I come to a stop, I can hear the transmission catching up to the car. (Again, for lack of a better term)

Junk, yes or no?

When was the last time you had the fluid and filter changed? If it has a electronic converter it could be locking and unlocking at the wrong time. If your going to keep the car take it to a trans shop and have them test drive it.

I just bought it, it didn't come with any service records. Perhaps I should start there, cross my fingers and hope for the best? Electronic converter? What kind of $ are we talkin' there?

Take it to autozone and have them scan it for codes first. Then call around to check on estimates. Ya know, I have seen this happen when the connector to the trans converter got loose or dirty. A friend says to dissconnect the wire and then try to drive it. On some of the older ones this seemed to work, even though I have never tried it. I wish you luck and a cheap repair. Vandragon
