I just bought an 02 Passat and the check engine light came on. I was talking with some friends about it and they think cause I used a cheap gas station to fill up, there may be water in my tank. My dad said to use a can of HEAT and try that first. Where do I get a can of heat and is that worth it??? Should I just take it to the dealer???

Suggested Repair

Try a can of fuel dryer (HEAT/HEET) from a gas station to remove moisture from the tank. It is inexpensive and worth trying before a dealer visit.

Conversation Summary

The owner of a 2002 Passat has a check engine light and wonders if cheap gas left water in the tank. A family suggestion was to try a can of HEAT. The expert said HEAT is sold at most gas stations, costs only a few dollars, removes some moisture, and is worth trying.
