After getting gas at a gas station that I never got gas at before it started stalling out, I cleaned the throttle body sensor, and it started acting even worse so it's going to the point that it won't say running and the idle is higher than it was before I did this. what could cause this problem?

Hi,

I'm not sure what you mean by throttle body sensor. Do you mean the throttle position sensor? Was it an electrical component?

Let me know. Also, let me know what was done to clean it.

Let me know.

Yes, the throttle position sensor and I don't think it was electric we just used a little bit of gas to clean inside it because it was really dirty.

Hi,

The throttle position sensor is electric, so I'm not sure what you cleaned. However, let's try to figure this out.

Does the check engine light stay on when the engine is running? Have you checked to see if there are diagnostic trouble codes stored? If not because this vehicle is so new, I suggest having the can-bus scanned.

CAN stands for controller area network. Basically, the different control modules are tied together via a few wires and communicate with each other. This type of scan will retrieve codes regardless of the module storing them.

Here is a link showing how it's done:

Amanda, you indicated in your first post that the engine won't stay running and it has a higher idle. Does it stall at idle or while driving? A high idle usually indicates it isn't stalling at idle, so I just need a little clarification.

Next, if it has a low idle and stalls, it could be something as simple as a vacuum leak.

Here is a link that explains how to check:

Let me know.

Hi,

In your first post, it says stalling. Has that changed? If it is a high idle, the same principles apply that I mentioned above. Check to see if there are any vacuum leaks. Also, if you can have the can-bus scanned, that would be very helpful.

Let me know.
