Just installed a re-manufacture engine in my truck w100. I went from a 5.2 to a 5.9 -318 to 360. Timing is correct, cannot get it idle or run right. Starts fine fires right up. The 318 was thinking, I noticed that the 360 that year had a carburetor, I installed the think and intake back on the 360. Am I missing something?

I guess my question is would the TBI on that motor not be a good match. I did use a new 360 harmonic balancer, but running the 318 intake and TBI on the 360, it just will not idle. Is it possible that I should be using the 360 balancer and use the 318 that maybe the time is different?

Thanks, Mark

It sounds like you have a vacuum leak. Do you have the EGR configured correctly? In other words does the intake manifold have the right ports to cover the vacuum part of the intake and cylinder heads?

Here is a guide that can help:

Please let us know what happens.

If the block off plate is sealed it should be okay, did you try checking for a vacuum leak?
