I used a tire inflator that plugs into the cigarette lighter and did not have the car running. It drained the battery and after I jumped it- it seemed fine. Twice now it has died after sitting in the accessories/on position where the car is on but not running for at most five minutes. The batter indicator shows green and the car starts fine as long as I do not leave it in the on position! Is that an alternator issue?

Hi michelleh1221,

Seems the battery is not retaining the charge weel enough. You need to test the charging and battery condition. Could be either one.

I would tend to go for your battery not holding the charge. I think you will find if you have it drop tested this would be the problem. It is time for a new battery I am afraid.

my car would not start but when jump started it begins to run. What is wrong with my car? The battery is good because it reads twelve volts.
