To Whom It May Concern:

On a couple of occasions in the past few months, the car would not run after releasing the key. After 6-7 tries, it ran fine and I continued driving it. Last week, it died on me in the middle of the interstate and would not start. I towed it to a local auto parts store and began working on it. First, I replaced the fuel filter and after a few tries it started; I turned it off to ensure I had indeed corrected the problem but it would not start again. I then replaced the distributor cap/rotor set as it showed signs of severe wear; nothing. I had someone bang on the fuel tank with a rubber mallet while I cranked the engine - it started right away and ran very well for several minutes. So, I replaced the fuel pump since it is located in the fuel tank - no joy! I replaced the Ignition Control Module on this car last year and it carries a lifetime warranty on it. I was able to get a replacement from AZ at no charge and installed it - again, nothing. Next, I discovered from a local dealer that this vehicle has a main relay which controls both the ignition and power to the fuel pump (I have 0 psi at the fuel filter service bolt with the key on), so I replaced that relay - nothing again! I am at a loss and would very grateful for some sound advice this point. The Service Engine light has been illuminated since I bought the car thanks to a faulty ABS motor/pump which I have no intention of replacing so it is hard to say if this starting problem caused any codes. I have not had AZ read for codes yet though. Thank you for your time.

Hi mscott71,

The ignition switch is faulty and requires replacement.

When problem occurs, note the dash indicator lights, they would be off when engine stalled, indicating no power is being supplied.
