1990 Acura Integra odometer melted

i was driving on the highway one night and all of a sudden, the lights started flickering, and smoke filled the inside of the car. smelled like burning plastic. the car started later that night, but after towing it home, it would crank, but it wouldn't turn over. i got to looking at it and the odometer had melted. i replaced the entire gauge cluster but still no start. what could be the problem?

Hi anielsen,

If the mter cluster had melted, there is a shorting somewhere and the wire harness have to be checked for burning as well.

Hope the ECU has not been damaged by the short circuiting of the wiring system.
