A/C works sometimes

When driving the A/C will start to cool down but it never gets cold and after it sits for a while it gets hot again.

It sounds like it is low on Freon. Before recharging, make sure the area in front of the radiator isn't blocked or dirty, and make sure the cooling fan turns on with the AC.

If that checks good, make sure the accessory belt under the hood which turns the AC compressor is tight. If it is, then I would recharge the system. Here is a link that shows how that is done:
