Originally the AC compressor would not come on at all so I added some Freon from a can and it came on to the point where it started cycling on and off. Air only blows through the defrost vents and I know that could have something to do with a vacuum leak. But could it have something to do with the cycling? Should I add more Freon?

Hello,

This could be a problem with your Defrost Actuator. If your actuator, through normal wear and tear, breaks, it will stay in the position it breaks in. I have included in the diagrams down below a link for you to go to.

Please go through the guide and get back to us with what you are able to find out.

Thanks,

Hello and thank you for using 2CarPros. I would agree with you CDRUCK that the problem is a broken vacuum line. Very common fault with Ford. You would need to trace the vacuum lines in the engine bay for a broken plastic vacuum line. The climate control unit also has a vacuum plug in the back to control the the air distribution. Worse case scenario the climate control head is defective but I am pretty sure if you look at all the plastic vacuum lines near the engine firewall you will find a broken vacuum line. Let us know what you find.
