I have seen other posts about this issue but I am interested in any opinions you can offer. When I first drive off in my truck, the brakes lock up and the truck drops into four wheel drive high. It will not roll at all and will occasionally jerk until I pull over. I have to turn the steering wheel left and right to get it to move. After about five minutes of this suddenly the AdvTrak light will kick on and the truck will move freely. I have had sensors changed but nothing has solved the problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Good morning.

Are there any codes in the ABS system?

None. All those boards have been replaced by a mechanic and Ford reprogrammed the system.

I would still have the system checked for codes for a malfunction in the AdvTrac system which is part of the ABS.

Also, has anyone checked the brakes? Particularly the front brake hoses?

Brakes are brand new. Thought that was the problem initially. Someone suggested it might be the ball bearings. Watch the video and see if it helps explain it.

Hello,

Yes, that does sounds like a wheel bearing that is out. Can you tell if it is front or rear? The video is great by the way. the only way to go for noises.

If it is front the front this guide will give you an idea on what you are in for when replacing the bearing hub.

Below is how it will be for your car. You can get the part from Amazon I suggest doing both sides.

Check out the diagrams (below).

Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem.

Cheers, Ken
