Brakes problem
1992 Ford Explorer 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

My ABS hydrolic unit is leaking brake fluid when pressure is applied to the system. I don't know much about this part but it is leaking from what looks like might be a bleed point for getting air out of the system. Is there possibly a seal inside gone bad causing the leak? At $120 for a new one, I'd really like to find out if there is a way I can repair, instead of replace this unit. Please help.

It if is the bleeder, you can just replace that. It shouldn't be more than a dollar part. Keep in mind, when you remove the old one, if fluid leaks dry from the master cylender, the system will need bled.

Also, make sure it is tight. If it is a little loose, it will leak. If you want, you can upload a picture for me to see to make sure what the part is. Let me know.

Here is a pic of the hydrolic unit that is leaking. I circled where it is leaking from.

I don't think that is a bleeder. If I recall, there is an o-ring behind it that is most likely leaking.

The guy at the part store told me yesterday it is a check valve and can't be replaced. He said I'd have to replace the whole unit. Was he just trying to sell me? I need as much info about this part as I can get please.

There is a very good chance they don't produce or sell the part seperately. Contact a dealer and see what they tell you.
