After replacing the ABS and Speed sensors on both the driver's side and passenger side wheels, the ABS and Brake light turn off and on?

I replaced the ABS and Speed sensors on both the driver's side and passenger side wheels. I used the ACDelco 19300584. I did this because before the ABS and Brake lights were flashing and I could hear a dinging sound. Now, after replacing the two sensors, I have the ABS and Brake lights come on and off randomly while I am driving. I hooked my code reader, and I didn't have any ABS codes. Before I had replaced all the break lines and the top of the ABS module that the brake lines attach to and bled the brakes, and the master cylinder is at the proper level. What could be causing this?

Hi,

If there are no codes, then chances are the sensors are working, but something is causing a false reading. As a result, the vehicle thinks there is an issue.

If your scan tool can read live data, connect it and drive to see if the wheel speeds are accurate with each other. Pay special attention when the lights come on.

Also, keep in mind there are toner rings that can be causing issues as well. If the new sensors aren't getting a proper reading, that can cause this to happen. If that is an issue, you will see a variation in wheel speeds with the scan tool.

Let me know if that is something you can do.

Joe,

I don't have a scan tool that can collect live data. It looks like the ABS light goes off, then the brake light goes off, then they both come on. I have attached a video showing what I see driving. I don't know what Toner rings are, can you please explain what they are?

Hi,

I watched the video. That seems to be consistent and not a random issue. By chance, could you get your hands on a live data scan tool or a scanner that can retrieve can-bus codes?

CAN stands for controller area network. That is what I would try.

Here is a link that explains how it's done:

As far as a toner ring, that is the component which the sensors pick up a speed signal from.

Let me know.

Joe.

Joe, in the link you sent me for a CAN sensor you have a link below the video for a low-cost CAN sensor from Amazon. Will that one be able to get the live data on the ABS? Will it also be able to bleed an ABS like the one you have?

Hi,

I believe it can read codes from the CAN, but I don't believe it is bidirectional. That is needed for an automated bleed of the ABS.

Let me know. Take care and Merry Christmas!
