There is a coolant temperature sender and a coolant temp sensor. The temperature sensor is used by the ECM to determine air-fuel mixture requirements along with many other engine controls. The sender is responsible for the gauge. My focus would be on the sensor.

I likely already asked, but do you have a live data scan tool that can check the sensor signal?

Yes, I have a live scan tool. I'll try and scan it tomorrow along with disconnecting the MAF. Long day today. Thanks, Ed.
